Happy Father's Day

The girls were so excited yesterday morning to climb in bed with Lucas and present him with their gifts for Father's Day. They drew him all kinds of pictures and they sang him a song that went something like this, (sung to London Bridges):

Thank you, Dad,
for all your love
all your love
all your love

Thank you, Dad,
for all your love
Happy Father's Day

Thank you, Dad, for all your hugs x3
Happy Father's Day

Thank you, Dad, for all your kisses x3
Happy Father's Day

Then Norah added,
Thank you, Dad, for all you do x3
Happy Father's Day

Thank you, Lucas, for all you do. Thank you for fixing and building things around the house, for unclogging the toilet (which is THE worst), for killing spiders, for locking doors, for taking out the trash, for mowing the lawn, for dragging our children out of our bed (both at one time) after they've crawled in and squeezed into every inch of free space between us and taking them back up the stairs to their bedroom in the middle of the night. Thank you for staying calm when I'm grumpy, or anxious, or going through postpartum depression. Thank you for running out to the grocery store when I forget just one ingredient I need for dinner. For the second time. In one evening. Thank you for driving the entire way for every long drive we make. Thank you for giving the girls a bath each night, reading them books, and giving them cuddles. Thank you for taking them on walks, teaching them the names of trees, flowers, and the letters in their name. Thank you for waking up with me whenever I ask you to to rock a screaming baby. Thank you for leaving for work each day while we watch, still in our pajamas, from the window. Thank you for all your love. Thank you, so very much, for all you do.

Happy Father's Day.
